There's an area in my very cluttered garage where I've set up a make-shift work table.
And by make-shift, I mean, a large painted-on-one side piece of plywood left over from a middle school group project my daughter did, elegantly balanced on 2 thick plastic saw horses that I completely adore and bought at HD. (Because I have plans to be a power tool ninja and do DIY projects that require them. That's why I got them.)
This area, wedged between bags of pea gravel, lawn and garden tools, and what used to be my favorite kitchen table, is meant for something else. A place to create different art than what I make at my easel -- in the house.
(There is a reason I have these found trinkets and treasures in the outdoor place. One of my cats, Dr. Spencer Reed (a.k.a. Kitty) is part bengal. And eats fabric, and chews on everything; including the tip of his tail and twist ties. I am fairly certain he would find something not edible on this table, and make it so.)
I'm a fan of assemblage art. Masterpieces crafted out of found or cherished objects that somehow relate, and when arranged or assembled just right, translate into a visual, and soul felt story. If you get on Pinterest, and search the term "assemblage art" you will get plenty of examples, that will lead to 100 other examples, and 100 more. (How fun is that?)
So, the plan is, to branch out, and get my hands into other things, and see where it leads. Who knows, I just might find the perfect place for that vintage doll head, scratched up toy car, or piece of tree bark that is shaped like a wing. Everything holds possibility.
